Presenter said they warm up in 3 minutes, store the heat, turn themselves off, then release the heat. I work from home, i'm on a pre payment meter (rented property and hoping to move soon, so not worth changing) and i try to have the heating on as little as possible. We are looking at getting a new heating for a bedroom
We have a small oil one in there, but it takes ages to get going, and halogen and ceramic heats up almost instantly, so is already more cost effective.
Last year i had fan heaters in my flat apart from a ceramic heater in my living room as noticed they warmed the flat up very fast and the heat stuck for hours if not all night. A clever, well insulated storage heater can be cheaper to run because it won't waste so much heat during the hours before dawn, and if you've been away for a weekend or on holiday you won't have wasted money by leaving it on in your absence (or having to top up with daytime electricity when you get back). I live in a small terrace house I was thinking of replacing my baxi fire back boiler and gas fire front and replacing it with a new energy saving gas fire and upstairs use a couple of electric ceramic radiators
Instead of replacing and relocating a new boiler I know baxi do a new fire back boiler but you cant have a gas fire on the front of. May need to invest in something short term for a family member as their ancient storage heaters are pretty unreliable , so any sensible feedback welcomed We bought a 500 watt fan heater to heat our lounge
Regardless of lounge size, if you sit within about 8 feet of the heater you will be toastie and you can leave it on for 14 hours a day for £1 at current prices (14p per kwh)
