You don't need an agm type battery if it's a manual transmission but you do for the automatic, according to volvo. To remove the battery you need to 1) remove the battery charge monitor sensor lead from the earth terminal 2) remove the earth terminal 3) remove the 2 thick leads from either side of the distribution block that covers the back of the battery and the smaller lead from the distribution block to the positive terminal 4) remove the positive terminal 5) remove the 2 torx bolts on either side of.
