This thread contains diagrams for locating various connectors, components, and wiring through the vehicle This info was taken from older manuals and will be more accurate for earlier years, though hopefully still helpful for later years too. What that seems to indicate is that there is a ground short between those three wires in the wiper motor connector and a ground other than the wiper motor connector ground. The copper wire rots out, breaking the actual circuit, and the plastic part stays connected, making you think the ground is just fine
Inspect the z916 ground circuit (black or black/white wire) to the g110 ground G110 ground is located on the right frame rail just ahead or below the washer reservoir. First things first, get this ground wire cleaned up and reattached It looks like the wire that attaches to a bolt on the upper part of the fire wall on the rh side of the engine.
'ground' wire hooked up to the dash, then going up to the wiper motor will solve a bunch of gauge problems, dash light problems, and wiper problems.
